The Cayman Islands is blessed with a rich sailing heritage. This heritage continues with a strong recreational sailing community. The Cayman Islands Sailing Club is the National Authority for sailing in the Cayman Islands and affiliated to the ISAF and the Olympic movement. There is a strong commitment to developing the sport in the Cayman Islands, and the Club maintains a strong school and youth training programme. Families are especially welcome, with Saturday sailing classes for children. If you are a really keen sailor, interested in taking up the sport or just want to join our social activities you'll fit in straight away. The CISC is happy to provide lessons or recreational sailing to tourists visiting Grand Cayman. If you are interested in taking a day sail, sunset sail or a romantic dinner cruise, there are various charter operators in Cayman that can accommodate private charter or scheduled service. There is no better way to experience the dramatic Cayman Sunset than under sail. Chartering a sail boat offers a particularly peaceful and private way to experience the ocean blue. Several operators offer a flexible range of sunset and dinner sails, for groups from two to 20 people. You could also charter a boat to go scuba diving or snorkeling. Alternatively, if sailing is your passion, you could go beyond the reef and circumnavigate the island. Red Baron Charters are among those who also offer the option of doing an extended charter to the Sister Islands or the southern cruising grounds of Cuba. Red Sail Sports are another possibility, offering the choice of three large, luxury catamarans which do lunch snorkel trips to Stingray City, romantic dinner sails and memorable sunset sails, departing from three locations around Grand Cayman. Yet another route is offered by some members of the Cayman National Watersports Association who, as native Caymanian captains, know the waters around all three islands like the back of their sun-bronzed hands. Affectionately known on-island as the 'Bubble Sub', the SEAmobile Submarine is a big glass bubble which affords two people panoramic views of all that is going on around them, deep under the surface of the sea. The pilot, on scuba gear and controlling the submarine from the outside, can communicate with you at all times and so is able to give you a customized tour. Wannabe submarine pilots can fulfill their dream by taking the controls, secure in the knowledge that the pilot will always have a finger on the master switch. A spacious and comfortable semi submarine offers a great way to witness the underwater world and to keep dry at the same time. On your undersea tour, you will be able to see thriving coral reefs and a wreck slumbering near the shore. You'll also get a sense of the grandeur of the Cayman Wall and, with the help of a diver who hand-feeds fish at your window, you'll be able to marvel at our marine life.
